There is this road signage near my school with a leaping deer on it. This evening I discovered that it does indeed serve its purpose of cautioning drivers. Two fawns were spotted steadily crossing the busy road with traffic coming from either side. It was dark, but their silhouettes were clearly outlined against the streetlights. Seeing their majestic bodies climbing up the roadside slope made me smile.

The bus driver shouted across the bus, "You saw them?"
"Yeah, I did. All three of them actually."
