phantom of the opera
The experience of putting up a class performance of Phantom Of The Opera, and seeing a North American tour performance of Phantom of the Opera, are light years apart. I found that out on Thursday.
My first contact with POTO was when Secondary 4 classes had the annual ritual of putting up performances for the interclass Drama competition. Somehow, we decided on POTO, and 'localization' of the play made it quite different. The process of rehearsals and preparations were fun though.
Perhaps it was because I watched the movie first, but it was hard for me to break out of the 'Christine must look like Emmy Rossum' mentality. The characters were reflective to the movie, or rather the other way round, seeing how the movie was based on the stage play. Also, the audience at POTO weren't as responsive in terms for the clapping, cheering and standing ovation. They had to warm up abit as the minor cast came out before going full out for the main characters, whereas everyone was on their feet for the first ending bow of Wicked!
The set, costumes, singing and effects.. So intricate, yet grand and elaborate. Sparks and fire blazes were used periodically and without notice. It made me jerk from my seat, made me shut my eyes tight from the sudden flash, and definitely made me pay more attention right after.

Princess of Wales Theatre in the evening.

The grand entrance.

Me and my sister's first theatrical outing to POTO!

Finally entering the theatre hall after checkpoints.

Secretly taking pictures from our seats as it's a copyright violation.

Box seats, but out seats still rock.

Self-shot.

After the play..

People rushing out.

We were on the first level, the Orchestra.

Paraphernalia: a POTO poster, and a t-shirt for my sister saying 'Prima Dona'.

Pamphlets: for POTO and the upcoming Dirty Dancing.

Gratitude to the person who got us tickets.

We just couldn't resist taking a picture with more POTO-related items.

Trying to steal the Phantom's rose.

It was a great night. Me and my sister were all dressed up, and soaked up all the theatrical ambience of Phantom Of The Opera at the Princess of Wales Theatre.
