storm alert

Toronto experienced one of it's worst snow storm this year just now. It has died down a little as that weather system moves across Ontario, but we are expected to expect freezing rain and ice pellets falling to the ground overnight.

I went for my one hour lecture and was told that the tutorial that was supposed to be at 5-7pm was cancelled because of an impending weather alert. There was this ISC event that needed help with, so I stayed back to study. Later on in the evening, found out that the event was cancelled too, as was every other class on campus effective from 5pm. So for me, the school closure was quite pointless. It was crazy how the wind was blowing, and how snow was continuously dumped on us just now. As I made my way across the campus to the bus-stop, I literally had to plough through thick snow on the ground. Waiting for public transit in such weather was torture. A usually 45-minute journey, ended up to a 2-hour one.

My work shift last weekend was also torturous. I'd to stand for long shifts, approach people, act all enthusiastic and spout the same few lines over and over. Most were easy to talk to, but there was one who was straight out rude to me, yet I'd to smile and thank that son of a bitch. Richmond Hill's Futureshop was much more welcoming than Markham's. Yet, I've to head to Markham this Saturday, my only shift for this week! They pulled RH as it wasn't productive enough. If they assign me to anywhere else outside of Toronto after this week, I'm seriously considering quitting, despite the very attractive pay. My life/time/studies is more important. I've yet to make any sales yet, so perhaps they might fire me even before I quit.

Anyway, I'm quite thankful that I stayed back in school today as I was able to get information into my brain for tomorrow's Midterm. If only they call a Snow Day, or rather an Icy-Slippery-Road Day. I need the rest, as I always do..
