unlucky

today has got to be one of the unluckiest day of my stay in canada. it's a long story but i will try to shorten it as much as possible.. quite a challenge, considering my fondness for procastination and continuous ramblings.

my brother wanted to get some of his own groceries, so did i. he wanted to use my debit card for it, but i needed it to buy my textbooks today. so we came to an agreement that i would by my books, and when i'm close to home, i would call him to meet me at the lobby to go to the supermart.

things went wrong when i realized on the bus to school that i had left both my wallet and cellphone at home. so we decided that i would go straight up instead of waiting for my brother at the lobby. without my wallet, i couldn't buy my books to read during my 2-hour break, and food to munch on as i was starving. nevertheless, i survived the first half of the day and went home. when approaching the apartment building door, i again discovered something awry. i only had the key to the apartment building, but had lost the one to the house door. still, i would be able to enter since my brother was home.

so i thought.. i went up and started knocking away, but no one answered. i guessed he was asleep, which frustrated me. i went down to the management room and asked for assistance to open the door. this lady gave me the cannot-be-bothered attitude, and made me wait there just to end up telling me "unless you are the lease-holder, we cannot open the door for you". say so, biatch. i left and went up again. i was worried that i would have to wait till late in the evening when my housemates would return, as i know my brother would sleep all the way if no one wakes him up. my knuckles were sore from the repeated knocks and bangs. i was starving and tired. i waited at the stairwell, and periodically went to knock on the door for close to an hour.

finally, help arrived when one of my housemate came home. i was close to missing her as she closed the door before i could get out of the stairwell. but i managed to get in, and true enough my brother was sleeping away. the thing that frustrates me is that he was supposed to be prepared and wait for me to come home so that we can leave at once. but no, he had to go to sleep, and expected me to wake him up. furthermore, he knew i didn't bring my wallet or cellphone. which leads me to another frustration of why i didn't remember to bring my cellphone. i could have called for help, or called the house phone (but even then, my brother wouldn't be bothered to pick it up).

so from all days, i had to lose my key on the day that i didn't have any money or communication device on me. this is exactly how unlucky my day was.
