rat anatomy

PROJECT RAT. 25/01/2005. 1400hr. S-Wing UTSC.

yea, i dissected a rat for biology lab. more of a group work, as each bench were given a dead lab rat. a stiff, blood-drained, white, full rat. the lab was filled with a smell of some chemical, most probably for preservation.

cut across it's belly, and started opening up. with all our heads hovering over the poor little creature, we had to swing in a headlight. for a moment, it felt so much like being a surgeon in the middle of an operation, like those in Grey's Anatomy. maybe more of a veterinarian..

we saw the little heart, kidney, intestines, testes, etc, all surrrounded by layers of fats, blood vessels, muscles, bones.. the purpose of the experiment was for us to draw different organs in various systems. what a way to make use of a dead rat's body eh? we could have just drawn it off a book or diagram. but for the sake of science and knowledge, thank you little Rattus rattus!

PS talking about GA, i linked the latest episode of it from YouTube to my friendster profile. watch it if you have 40-minutes of spare time! (:
